From Vancouver plan a 5-1/2 to 6 hour drive in winter conditions. Take Highway 1 east, then Highway 5 north to Merritt. From Merritt take the Coquihalla Connector (Highway 97C) toward Kelowna. At Kelowna, take a left onto
Highway 97N to Vernon. Follow signs to Silver Star Mountain, which is 20 kilometers (14 miles) northeast of Vernon.
From Seattle plan a 7 to 7-1/2 hour drive. Take Interstate 5 to Bellingham and get off at Exit 255. Head east on East Sunset Drive, also known as state Route 542. Follow 542 past Cedarville. After crossing the Nooksack River, take a left onto Lawrence Road, also known as state Route 9. Follow 9 to the U.S.-Canada border crossing at Sumas. From
